Johnny-Light™ Installation

Your Johnny-Light™ comes out of the package attached to a bracket that is used for the most common type of installation. Do not remove the bracket until you are sure it is not required. An extra piece of Velcro® is also supplied for an alternate installation method.

Install Batteries

Remove the battery cap and insert the batteries. Note polarity marked on cap.

ON - OFF Test

Hold the unit and tilt as shown. Verify ON/OFF operation.

Determine Seat Type

Leaving the seat down, lift only the toilet lid and look at the hinge.
Is it an External Hinge (left photo) or Integrated Hinge (right photo)?

Many external hinge seats are plastic but like the wooden seat shown, there is a gap between the back of the seat and the hinge.

External Hinge

This is the most common type of toilet seat sold in North America. With the LED pointing down, place the Johnny-Light™ with bracket in the gap between the back of the seat and the hinge as shown below. That’s it, installation complete.

Integrated Hinge

1. Lift the seat and look for a recess between the hinges as shown in the photo below.
Note: Some integrated hinge seats do not have this recess and are incompatible with the Johnny-Light™. See the Compatibilty page.

Caution: It is a good idea to cover the bowl with cardboard or a plastic bag before proceeding.

2. Apply the extra piece of Velcro® to the seat in the recess marked by the dotted line below. Be sure the area is dry before applying the Velcro®.

3. Remove the bracket from the Johnny-Light™ and discard it.

4. Hold the Johnny-Light™ so the battery cap is toward the left, press it onto the Velcro®.

Installation complete.
